Alcohol & Other Drugs | Data & Research

Column 1

Wolverine Wellness works to implement an evidence-based public health model for preventing and treating campus-based substance use-related concerns. To do this, we also have to stay up to date with information and trends around alcohol and other drug use.  We do this by following the research and collecting our own data around those topics on a regular basis.

What research related to campus alcohol and other drug use does the university conduct?

We collect data about campus alcohol and other drug use in many different ways.  We conduct two campus-wide surveys regularly.

We also get information about campus alcohol and other drug use from:

  • Community Matters online courses
  • Monitoring the Future annual national survey on adolescent use of alcohol and other drugs administered by the U-M Institute for Social Research (ISR)
  • Partnerships with other departments and researchers around campus
